Imagine that you had the power to speak in a way that got people to do WHAT you want them to do…WHEN you want them to do it! To be most effective, you must get work done WITH and THROUGH others rather than doing it all yourself.
One of the most powerful conversations that we can have in is for the purpose of asking for what we want or moving people from talk to ACTION. However, we can’t expect others to read our minds – or think that they “SHOULD” know what we want. How often does that work? We must communicate our wishes clearly, in order to have others meet our expectations. Here are two easy steps to make that happen:
1st STEP: Have a DETAILED conversation with the person to whom you are delegating
-
-
- Describe the task to them and the expected results
- Discuss potential obstacles and countermeasures
- Agree on deadlines, milestones, and checkpoints
- Explain what resources are available to them
-
2nd STEP: Follow Up
-
-
- Monitor the progress
- Determine the need for assistance or more resources
- Make adjustments where necessary
-
Think about the impact this would have on you, and the time you would save. Just imagine what you would do with the extra time in your day!
Sincerely,
Excelerant
